MSP Marketing Agency Pricing: What $2k–$7k a Month Buys

MSP marketing agency pricing in 2026: what each price band buys, what other MSPs spend, how to pick a plan, the red flags to avoid and the questions to ask before you hire.

MSP marketing agency pricing usually runs $2,000 to $5,000 a month for SEO and content work. Single services cost less. Full done-for-you programs cost more, often $5,000 to $12,000 a month.

You've had three calls with three agencies this month. You still don't know what any of them costs.

One wants a "discovery session" first. One sends a 14-page proposal with no number on it. The third quotes a price, but you can't tell what you get for it.

Sound familiar? You're not alone. Most MSP owners we talk to just want a straight answer. So here it is.

Below, you'll see what each price range buys, how to pick the right one, and the red flags to watch for.

A quick note on evidence: we checked the public pricing pages of about a dozen MSP and B2B tech agencies on 20 October 2026 (public observation). Prices change, so treat these as ranges, not quotes. Aquinel is one of the agencies in this market, and we say so where it matters.

How much does an MSP marketing agency cost?

Here's the short answer. Agency prices fall into three bands.

Price bandWhat you usually getWho it suits
Under $2,000 a monthOne service. Think blog posts, Google Business Profile, listings, or an AI visibility tool. You want one thing done, and you'll handle the rest.
$2,000 to $5,000 a monthA real SEO and content program. Often includes AI search work. The agency writes, or guides your team. Most MSPs who want steady, done-for-you growth work.
$5,000 a month and upEverything above, plus off-site work: PR, directories, "best of" lists, podcasts, sometimes ads.You want to be the known name in your market.

Agencies we checked in this market include Pronto Marketing, JoomConnect, Tactics Marketing, Egochi, MSP Sprout, Tech Pro Marketing, Tortoise & Hare Software, MSP Launchpad and TSL Marketing. Their published prices fall across all three bands (checked 20 October 2026).

But watch the fine print. Setup fees run from nothing to several thousand dollars. And "from" usually means the cheapest tier. Most real quotes land higher.

How much do other MSPs spend on marketing?

Less than you might think.

ConnectWise's 2026 MSP Marketing Report found that 51% of MSPs spend under $10,000 a year on all their marketing. Nearly 60% plan to spend more (research-based conclusion).

The same report shares a benchmark from Service Leadership. Top MSPs spend about 1.8% of revenue on marketing. For an MSP doing around $1 million a year, that's roughly $15,000 to $20,000 a year.

Now do the maths. Even a $2,000-a-month retainer comes to about $24,000 a year.

So here's the honest part. If your total budget sits under about $10,000 a year, you're probably not ready for a retainer yet. And that's fine. Lots of great MSPs start there. Run a simple plan yourself first. Our guide on how to market an MSP business and our post on MSP lead generation without cold calling will get you moving. What do you get for about $2,000 a month?

At this level, you get direction. You still do a lot of the work.

Some agencies give you one narrow service at this price. Others give you a full plan and let your team carry it out.

Our Starter plan sits here. It covers one niche: one industry, in one country, for one type of customer. Say you only support dental practices in Texas. That's one niche.

Here's how it works:

  1. We find out what ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google say about you today.
  2. We show you which pages they read and where the gaps are.
  3. We hand you a ranked plan and writing briefs.
  4. Your team writes the pages.
  5. We track your Share of Answer: how often AI names you when buyers ask.

Here's the catch. Starter only works if someone on your team will write. If nobody has the time, the plan sits in a folder. We'd rather tell you that now.

What do you get for about $4,000 a month?

This is where the agency starts doing the work for you.

Most done-for-you MSP programs sit in this middle range. The agency writes, publishes and fixes your site. You review and approve.

Our Growth plan sits here, and it's the one we recommend for most MSPs. Why? Because most MSPs serve more than one type of client. And most don't have spare hours to write.

Growth gives you everything in Starter, plus:

  1. Several niches. For example, healthcare and law firms, or two certifications. We scope this with you on the first call.
  2. We write all the content. And we publish it.
  3. We fix your site. We build and improve the pages ourselves.

Think of it this way. Starter hands you a map. Growth drives the car. For most MSP owners, the writing is where good plans stall. Growth removes that roadblock. (That's our judgement from scoping MSP work, not a measured result. We label it a hypothesis.)

What do you get for $7,000 a month or more?

At the top end, you pay for work beyond your own website.

Why does that matter? AI tools often trust other sites more than yours. When ChatGPT picks an IT provider to name, it leans on directories, review sites, "best of" lists and forums. SmarterMSP made this point about MSPs in July 2026 (public observation).

Our Authority plan sits here. You get everything in Growth, plus:

  1. A plan to become the go-to name in each of your categories. We build it with you.
  2. Off-site work. We work on directories, "best of" lists, forum threads and placements.
  3. We handle it all. Content, site fixes and off-site work.

Authority suits you if you want AI to name you first in your market, and you have the budget for it. Not sure yet? Start with Growth. You can move up later.

What do Aquinel's plans have in common?

All three plans run on the same method. They just cover more ground as you go up, from $2,000 to $7,000 a month.

And every plan comes with the same terms:

  1. No setup fee. You don't pay anything up front.
  2. No minimum term. You can stop any time.
  3. Month four free if your Share of Answer hasn't moved after the first three months.

Notice what that promise covers. It covers your visibility in AI answers. We can measure that, and we can affect it. It doesn't cover leads or revenue. Your sales process, your prices and your market drive those, and no agency controls them.

What red flags should you watch for?

Now for the warning signs. If you hear any of these, slow down.

"We guarantee 20 leads a month." Nobody controls whether a buyer picks up the phone. Read the fine print, too. Some lead guarantees only waive a later month's fee. You still pay for every month before it.

"We'll get you to #1 on Google." No one can promise that. Google decides.

"We'll get ChatGPT to recommend you." ChatGPT now has ads, but OpenAI shows them below the answer, not inside it (OpenAI Help Center, "Ads in ChatGPT: The Basics", updated 20 October 2026; public observation). Buying an ad doesn't make ChatGPT recommend you.

"Sign for 12 months, plus a big setup fee." That puts all the risk on you.

"Here's your monthly report." Fine, but ask where you started. Without a starting point, a report can't show what changed.

"We grew a client 300%." Ask who, when and how. If they can't say, you can't check it.

What should you ask before you hire?

Before you sign anything, ask these seven questions:

  1. What will you measure each month? Where do I start today?
  2. Who writes the content? Who approves it?
  3. Which industries, cities or certifications does this price cover?
  4. Do you work off my site too, or only on it?
  5. Do you charge a setup fee? Do I have to sign for a set term?
  6. What happens if nothing moves in three months?
  7. Can I talk to an MSP you work with now?

Good agencies answer these fast. Vague answers tell you something too.

Which plan should you pick?

Let's make it simple. Pick based on how many markets you serve and who will write.

  • You serve one industry, and you have a writer: Starter.
  • You serve more than one industry, and nobody has time to write: Growth. This fits most MSPs.
  • You want AI to name you first, and you want off-site work too: Authority.
  • Your marketing budget is under about $10,000 a year: hold off on a retainer for now. Start with the guides above, and come back when you're ready.

Still not sure? That's what the free call is for. We'll look at your market and tell you which plan fits, even if the answer is "none yet."

Questions

How much does an MSP marketing agency cost?

Most MSP marketing agencies charge between $2,000 and $5,000 a month for SEO and content work. Single services often cost under $2,000 a month. Full done-for-you programs with off-site work usually start around $5,000 a month and can pass $10,000.

How much should an MSP spend on marketing?

A Service Leadership benchmark, cited in ConnectWise's 2026 MSP Marketing Report, puts top MSPs at about 1.8% of revenue. That's roughly $15,000 to $20,000 a year for a $1 million MSP. But 51% of MSPs spend under $10,000 a year.

Can an MSP marketing agency guarantee leads?

No. No agency controls whether a buyer contacts you. A fair guarantee covers something the agency can measure and affect, like your visibility in AI answers, and it tells you exactly what you get back if that doesn't move.

What do Aquinel's plans cost?

Aquinel's plans run from $2,000 to $7,000 a month. Starter covers one niche, and your team writes. Growth covers several niches, and we do the work. This is the plan we recommend for most MSPs. Authority adds off-site work. No plan has a setup fee or a minimum term. Month four is free if your Share of Answer hasn't moved.

What is Share of Answer?

Share of Answer tells you how often AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews name your MSP when buyers ask the questions you want to win. We measure it across repeated runs. Learn more in how to track AI citations and traffic.

Do I need to pay a setup fee or sign a long contract?

Not always. Many MSP agencies now work month to month. Others still charge setup fees of up to several thousand dollars. Aquinel charges no setup fee and asks for no minimum term.
